About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to design, analyze, and document mechanical systems and components for ruggedized enclosures and rack systems used in aerospace and defense applications. The ideal candidate will have advanced expertise in CAD and FEA tools, a deep understanding of AS9100, DoD, NASA, and MIL-STD requirements, and a proven ability to collaborate across disciplines to deliver high-reliability products.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring product reliability, manufacturability, and compliance while driving continuous improvement across engineering processes.

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to design, analyze, and document mechanical systems and components for ruggedized enclosures and rack systems used in aerospace and defense applications. The ideal candidate will have advanced expertise in CAD and FEA tools, a deep understanding of AS9100, DoD, NASA, and MIL-STD requirements, and a proven ability to collaborate across disciplines to deliver high-reliability products.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring product reliability, manufacturability, and compliance while driving continuous improvement across engineering processes.
Key Responsibilities

Design mechanical systems and components for ruggedized enclosures and rack systems, ensuring compliance with specifications and industry standards.

Perform stress, thermal, vibration, and fatigue analyses using FEA tools; document and present formal engineering reports.

Create and maintain 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and Bills of Material (BOMs) per ASME Y14.5 (GD&T) standards.

Collaborate with systems, electrical, and manufacturing engineers to ensure seamless design integration and performance.

Participate in design reviews, failure analyses, and root cause investigations; track and close corrective actions.

Support prototyping, integration, and assembly activities by developing build instructions, tooling specifications, and providing hands-on technical guidance.

Ensure compliance with AS9100, ITAR, DoD, and customer/regulatory requirements throughout the product lifecycle.

Drive process improvements by documenting best practices and recommending tools or methods to enhance engineering efficiency.
Required Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred)

10+ years of progressive experience in mechanical design and engineering, ideally in aerospace or defense industries

Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent) with a record of producing high-quality models and drawings

Hands-on experience performing FEA and thermal analyses, interpreting data, and implementing design improvements

Strong knowledge of aerospace materials, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and manufacturing processes

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to cross-functional teams
-
Proven project management ability in a regulated, fast-paced engineering environment
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with aircraft systems or defense-related programs

Familiarity with aerospace standards (e.g., MIL-STD, FAA specifications)

Hands-on experience with prototyping, machining, and hardware assembly in R&D or production environments
-
Current or active U.S. Government Security Clearance, or eligibility to obtain one
