Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Legal Assistant at our firm that focuses on Personal Injury and Sexual Abuse cases. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legal support, exceptional communication skills, and a proactive approach to handling various tasks within a fast-paced legal environment.

This is a full-time role in Manhattan Beach, 4 days in office and 1 day hybrid.

Most Fridays are short days, and two discretionary bonuses are given annually.

Pay Rang $70,000-100,000

Responsibilities:
 
  1. Case Management:
    • Assist attorneys in the management of plaintiff personal injury cases from inception to resolution.
    • Maintain and organize case files, ensuring all documents are filed accurately and timely.
    • Conduct legal research to support case strategies.
  2. Document Preparation:
    • Draft, proofread, and edit legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and correspondence.
    • Prepare and file legal documents in state and federal courts.
  3. Client Communication:
    • Communicate with clients to obtain necessary information and updates on their cases.
    • Assist in drafting client correspondence and updates.
  4. Discovery Process:
    • Manage the discovery process by organizing and indexing documents.
    • Coordinate with relevant parties for the collection and exchange of discovery materials.
  5. Court Filings:
    • Prepare and file documents with courts, ensuring compliance with court rules and deadlines.
    • Monitor and calendar court deadlines for assigned cases.
  6. Administrative Support:
    • Provide administrative support to attorneys, including scheduling meetings, maintaining calendars, and handling phone calls.
    • Assist in coordinating and scheduling depositions, mediations, and court appearances.
  7. Legal Research:
    • Conduct legal research on relevant case law, statutes, and regulations.
    • Summarize legal documents and findings for attorneys.
  8. Billing and Timekeeping:
    • Assist in tracking attorney time and preparing billing statements for clients.

Qualifications:
 
  • Experience: 2+ years’ experience as a legal assistant in plaintiff personal injury litigation is required.
  • Technology Skills: Proficiency in legal case management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and electronic filing systems.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organization: Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with attorneys and other support staff.
  • Attention to Detail: High attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation.
